The village of Barkway lies approximately 4 miles south-east of Royston on the B1368 road in an area of outstanding beauty within the county of Hertfordshire.
The church of St Mary Magdalene is situated just 100 yards to the west of this road down a leafy lane near the centre of the village.
We have a 15 cwt ground floor ring of 8 which are hung on modern bearings on a steel frame. We are members of the Bishop's Stortford District within the Hertford County Association of Change Ringers.
We have a small, but enthusiastic band and we practice every Monday evening from 7.45pm to 9.00pm. We also ring for services and weddings, when required. Visitors and new recruits are always warmly welcomed.
In addition we hold a Surprise Major practice on the second Thursday of each month from 11.00am to 12.30pm, where we attempt the ring the standard eight and beyond. All ringers of Surprise Major standard at any level are always made very welcome.
